Vintage Chassis Record                                                          Derby Chassis Card

The early chassis records were hand written entries in a ledger, a page from one of these is shown above on the left. It details a general specification of the car, axel ratio etc. There are entries relating to work carried out at the works, or spares sent to garages or Owners, for the work to be carried out by the Owner.

After the purchase of the Company by Rolls-Royce chassis details were kept in card form as shown above on the right at the Derby Factory. The post WWII cars have more detailed chassis records on more chassis cards than before, and starting with the S3, in book form with 20 or 30 pages per chassis.
